Solar Wind Stream Structure at 1 AU

This work will address the three-dimensional structure of solar wind streams and shocks at 1 astronomical unit by comparing data from ACE/SWICS and the two PLASTIC sensors on STEREO. Recent investigations of shock planes have shown that they appear to be wavy, i.e. a planar geometry is not necessarily a good approximation. Here, we will investigate this properties at much larger separations than was previously possible using the unique geometry of the STEREO/A, ACE, and STEREO/B spacecraft.

This work requires good programming skills and a solid physics background.
